SAYS YOU: "Even though the Book of Mormon does appear to teach an Old Testament concept of heaven and hell, I don’t believe that actually makes it anti-Mormon. I think it just shows the Book of Mormon prophets never had the fullness of the plan of salvation revealed to them. It wasn’t revealed to Old Testament prophets either and most of the Book of Mormon was recorded in Old Testament times."

ME: I see why you may be having difficulty accepting some of the concepts we have discussed. It is because you have divided Old Testament teachings and New Testament teachings where Malachi ends and Matthew begins. Everything taught in the Old Testament times is incomplete, therefore the Book of Mormon is incomplete. This is an error that can easily be made.

The two civilizations can not be viewed with this point of view. Instead, each has to be considered regarding advanced gospel understanding as opposed to an understanding gotten under the "schoolmaster" of the Law of Moses. The advanced knowledge about Jesus and his atonement was had from the very beginning, was lost, and was recovered, rediscovered, by the Nephites.

As a believer in the Book of Moses, you believe that the advanced Christian Gospel was known even to Adam. Examine Moses, chapter 6. This "Advanced Gospel" existed in what you term "Old Testament" times.

I can easily prove the doctrine I have presented in the past with just this chapter.

Because of the fall, all are cast out of the presence of God. All must repent.

...men have become carnal, sensual, and devilish, and are shut out from the presence of God

All will hear the voice of the Good Shepherd. They must respond and believe, repent of ALL transgressions, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and receive the Holy Ghost. With the Holy Ghost, they have entered through the gate and are on their way to salvation (sanctification).

...If thou wilt turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, and believe, and repent of all thy transgressions, and be baptized, even in water, in the name of mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of grace and truth, which is Jesus Christ, the only name which shall be given under heaven, whereby salvation shall come unto the children of men, ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Everyone knows good from evil, are agents and therefore responsible for their thoughts, words and works.

...it is given unto them to know good from evil; wherefore they are agents unto themselves

There are two destinations...inheritance in the kingdom of God, to dwell in his presence, or cast out due to uncleaness.

...teach it unto your children, that all men, everywhere, must repent, or they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God, for no unclean thing can dwell there, or dwell in his presence

The Name Jesus Christ was known

...Man of Holiness is his name, and the name of his Only Begotten is the Son of Man, even Jesus Christ, a righteous Judge

One must be born again in this life, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, be cleansed and sanctified, which will make us enjoy the words of eternal life in this world. This is how we get eternal life and immortal glory.

...That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death, and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and the spirit, which I have made, and so became of dust a living soul, even so ye must be born again into the kingdom of heaven, of water, and of the Spirit, and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten; that ye might be sanctified from all sin, and enjoy the words of eternal life in this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory;

The above is the entire plan of Salvation. The Book of Mormon is the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

...And now, behold, I say unto you: This is the plan of salvation unto all men, through the blood of mine Only Begotten, who shall come in the meridian of time.

1 Corinthians 15 explained. Things which are in the heavens above (Celestial) and things which pertain to the earth (Terrestrial); things which are temporal (sown in corruption) and things which are spiritual (raised in incorruption)

...things which are temporal, and things which are spiritual; things which are in the heavens above, and things which are on the earth, and things which are in the earth, and things which are under the earth,

The necessity of being born again, undergo the mighty change. Also, there is no laying on of hands for the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

...And thus he was baptized, and the Spirit of God descended upon him, and thus he was born of the Spirit, and became quickened in the inner man. And he heard a voice out of heaven, saying: Thou art baptized with fire, and with the Holy Ghost.

The point I am trying to make is that this Gospel was from the Beginning. One cannot say this is "New Testament" doctrine nor “Old Testament” doctrine.

Now, lets switch over to the Book of Mormon, which I believe (I reject the Book of Moses, but you don't). We know that when the Nephites heard the voice of the Good Shepherd and responded, they grew in knowledge. The received the "advanced Gospel". They were not "Old Testament", as you are trying to portray them. In fact, they received the "fullness of the Gospel", says Joseph Smith.

Alma 12:10 And therefore, he that will harden his heart, the same receive the lesser portion of the word; and he that will not harden his heart, to him is given the greater portion of the word, until it is given unto him to know the mysteries of God until he know them in full.

Consider the advanced understanding the brother of Jared obtained around the time of the Tower.

Conclusion: when the Book of Mormon says "the final state of the souls of men is to dwell in the kingdom of God, or to be cast out", it is telling you this with a complete understanding of the fullness of the Gospel that was here in the beginning as expressed by the Book of Moses: "all men, everywhere, must repent, or they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God, for no unclean thing can dwell there". This is the consistent theme in the Book of Mormon.

1 Nephi 10:21 Wherefore, if ye have sought to do wickedly in the days of your probation, then ye are found unclean before the judgment-seat of God; and no unclean thing can dwell with God; wherefore, ye must be cast off forever.

1 Nephi 15:34 But behold, I say unto you, the kingdom of God is not filthy, and there cannot any unclean thing enter into the kingdom of God; wherefore there must needs be a place of filthiness prepared for that which is filthy.

Alma 7:21 And he doth not dwell in unholy temples; neither can filthiness or anything which is unclean be received into the kingdom of God...

Alma 11:37 And I say unto you again that he cannot save them in their sins; for I cannot deny his word, and he hath said that no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore, how can ye be saved, except ye inherit the kingdom of heaven? Therefore, ye cannot be saved in your sins.

Alma 40:26 But behold, an awful death cometh upon the wicked; for they die as to things pertaining to things of righteousness; for they are unclean, and no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of God; but they are cast out,

Lastly, Jesus in your "New Testament" era of the Book of Mormon confirms all of the above "Old Testament" understandings.

3 Nephi 27:19 And no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom; therefore nothing entereth into his rest save it be those who have washed their garments in my blood, because of their faith, and the repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness unto the end.

Book of Moses claims "This is the plan of salvation unto all men"

Now, if the Book of Mormon is the restoration of the Gospel of Christ, and it teaches two eternal destinations only, then it is, indeed, an Anti-Mormon book, for it confounds the doctrine of the Living Oracles of the Church.

See what you made me do, Mike?
