Converting Power
Why is the Book of Mormon so powerful in the conversion process?
Frankly, I don't know when the various churches on the face of the earth will catch on to the converting power of the Book of Mormon. They should realize that the technique that the LDSaints use is highly effective.
They should do something like the following.
Pastor Ray: I want you to come to know Jesus and His doctrine. I want you to come to a faith in the atoning sacrifice so that you may be saved. Here is a Book of Mormon. It teaches you all about Jesus and his heart and mind toward the children of men. You will get a spiritual witness of the teachings in the Book of Mormon and you will know that what it presents is true. We, in my congregation, believe in Jesus and the principles therein. You can come to our little church and continue learning these concepts. You will come to know the Lord and His plain and precious parts with us.
Mr. Ammon: Are you Mormons?
Pastor Ray: There is no such thing as the Mormon church. I learned that fact on Quora. There is, however, a church that claims to believe in the Book of Mormon but rejects its plain teachings regarding the probation here in this mortal life, what happens to us between death and the resurrection, the judgement, and what takes place thereafter. So, having received a witness of the Book of Mormon, you can safely disregard that particular group. You will get a witness of the teachings in the Book of Mormon and know that Jesus is your Savior. We meet every Sunday and on Wednesday we have a Book of Mormon/Bible discussion group. We invite you to come and see!
Mr. Ammon: I am currently a member of the ____________ church. Will the teachings of the Book of Mormon conflict with what I have learned there?
Pastor Ray: You will experience a "familiar spirit". There will be nothing in the Book of Mormon that will contradict what you believe. The Book will clear up many points of doctrine that has caused you to stumble and strengthen your love for and faith in Jesus. Here is the Book of Mormon. Go ahead and read it and see for yourself that what I told you is true. See you on Sunday? That will give you time to read several chapters.
Most protestant, especially Wesleyan derivatives, will find nothing much new in the Book of Mormon. They will readily agree with the Doctrine of Christ found in it. They reject it today simply because they assume the "unique" doctrines taught by that church that claims it have originated with the Book of Mormon. Once you can get Mr. Ammon over that hurdle, you have a new member for life.
Conversions would soar!
