I invite you to consider Mark 3

31. There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
32. And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
33. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
34. And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
35. For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Notice, especially, "whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother". He does not include "the same is my father”. Why not? Because His Father is in heaven. Then why does He include "mother" in the list? Because He doesn't have a mother in heaven! Simple.

God created us and everything else.

Mosiah 15:4 And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth.

Alma 11:39 And Amulek said unto him: Yea, he is the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth, and all things which in them are;....

So, in this sense, He is the Father of everything. He is the Father of this rock and yonder tree. Of course, we are adopted into God's family when we believe in Jesus.

Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Galatians 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

If all mankind were spiritual Children of God, "adoption" would not be necessary. Nobody adopts their own children. Children can be adopted by invitation into a family that heretofore they didn't belong. To teach that everyone is a child of God is just plain false. No adoption, no membership in God's Family.

The existence of a Mother in Heaven or Mothers in Heaven is derived by human reasoning from the false premise that we are all literal offspring of God and a felt need to deal with the desires of the sisters.

In the heav’ns are parents single?
No, the thought makes reason stare! Truth is reason; truth eternal
Tells me I’ve a mother there.

Gordon B. Hinckley has stated: “Logic and reason would certainly suggest that if we have a Father in Heaven, we have a Mother in Heaven. That doctrine rests well with me.”

We are not to rely on human reasoning. We are to search the scriptures to verify what we hear.

Isaiah 8:20. To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Our Common Mother

We are created, taken from, the dust of the earth. In this way, the earth is or mother.

2 Nephi 9:7 Wherefore, it must needs be an infinite atonement--save it should be an infinite atonement this corruption could not put on incorruption. Wherefore, the first judgment which came upon man must needs have remained to an endless duration. And if so, this flesh must have laid down to rot and to crumble to its mother earth, to rise no more.

Mosiah 2:26 And I, even I, whom ye call your king, am no better than ye yourselves are; for I am also of the dust. And ye behold that I am old, and am about to yield up this mortal frame to its mother earth.

Mormon 6:15 …. their flesh, and bones, and blood lay upon the face of the earth, being left by the hands of those who slew them to molder upon the land, and to crumble and to return to their mother earth.

Pagans have always tended to worship a divine feminine. Beliefs derived from this desire proved to be a cause of much destruction in Israel.

First Parents

We had no parents before Adam and Eve. They are consistently called or "first parents". LDSaint claim that our actual "First Parents" are Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother flies in the face of the restored gospel as fond in the Book of Mormon.

1 Nephi 5:11 And he beheld that they did contain the five books of Moses, which gave an account of the creation of the world, and also of Adam and Eve, who were our first parents;

2 Nephi 2:15 And to bring about his eternal purposes in the end of man, after he had created our first parents, and the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and in fine, all things which are created....

2 Nephi 9:9 And our spirits must have become like unto him, and we become devils, angels to a devil, to be shut out from the presence of our God, and to remain with the father of lies, in misery, like unto himself; yea, to that being who beguiled our first parents,

Mosiah 16:3 For they are carnal and devilish, and the devil has power over them; yea, even that old serpent that did beguile our first parents, which was the cause of their fall; which was the cause of all mankind becoming carnal, sensual, devilish, knowing evil from good, subjecting themselves to the devil.

Alma 12:26 And now behold, if it were possible that our first parents could have gone forth and partaken of the tree of life they would have been forever miserable, having no preparatory state;

Alma 42:2 Now behold, my son, I will explain this thing unto thee. For behold, after the Lord God sent our first parents forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground, from whence they were taken...

Alma 42:7 And now, ye see by this that our first parents were cut off both temporally and spiritually from the presence of the Lord; and thus we see they became subjects to follow after their own will.

Helaman 6:26 Now behold, those secret oaths and covenants did not come forth unto Gadianton from the records which were delivered unto Helaman; but behold, they were put into the heart of Gadianton by that same being who did entice our first parents to partake of the forbidden fruit--

Ether 8:25 For it cometh to pass that whoso buildeth it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies; even that same liar who beguiled our first parents,
