No

Sorry. I thought you weren’t going to read nor respond to my comments.

Well, reading your last post caused me sorrow of heart and yet, great joy. I was saddened by your resistance to plain and precious truth in order for you can hold to your traditions. Great joy in knowing that I escaped such grasp years ago before I fell into the same darkness.

Your exposition took 2,836 words to make your case. You wrested scriptures that you believe are mistranslated and had been corrupted by the Great and Abominable church and by such saints as Josiah and Hezekiah, the very prophets that Jesus and His followers felt free to quote. You abandon the Lord's cisterns and built your own cisterns that don't hold water.

The Simple Answer

The answer to the question, "Is there more than one God?" does not take 2,836 words. Indeed, it only takes one two letter word. No.

Alma 11

27. And Amulek said: Yea, there is a true and living God.
28. Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God?
29. And he answered, No.

Amulek did not have to resort to apostate theologians to come up with that answer. He did not have to comb through centuries of uninspired wranglings of pagan nor Catholic scholars. Zeerom thought maybe this was the case. He asked Amulek, "How knowest thou these things?". Amulek gave a satisfying answer, "An angel hath made them known unto me".

You may press me to believe there is more to the Zeerom/Amulek debate. All I can do is to refer to the solid approach The Book of Mormon prophets retained throughout. and that is plainness. You should be familiar with the phrase "pain and precious".

2 Nephi 25:7 But behold, I proceed with mine own prophecy, according to my plainness; in the which I know that no man can err;

2 Nephi 25:20 And now, my brethren, I have spoken plainly that ye cannot err.

Alma 5:43 ....I have spoken unto you plainly that ye cannot err, or have spoken according to the commandments of God.

Alma 13:23 And they are made known unto us in plain terms [think the term NO], that we may understand, that we cannot err;

How can anything be stated so plainly as the answer to "Is there more than one God?" than a single unqualified answer, "no"?

Now you may make the grand mistake in assuming God said this and later, as He delivered His gospel "line upon line", contradicted Himself, but by so doing you have made Him a liar in the past. You seem to believe that Line upon Line means He can say one thing in the past but contradict what He clearly said through Living Oracles.

Doctrine and Covenants 1:38 What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled....

One God. Unchangeable from eternity to eternity. This was the gospel delivered to the Nephites. These faithful and truthful Nephites prayed that this gospel would be given to those who inhabited the Americas.

Doctrine and Covenants 10

38. And now, verily I say unto you, that an account of those things that you have written, which have gone out of your hands, is engraven upon the plates of Nephi;
40. And now, because the account which is engraven upon the plates of Nephi is more particular concerning the things which, in my wisdom, I would bring to the knowledge of the people in this account--
5. Behold, there are many things engraven upon the plates of Nephi which do throw greater views upon my gospel; therefore, it is wisdom in me that you should translate this first part of the engravings of Nephi, and send forth in this work.
46. And, behold, all the remainder of this work does contain all those parts of my gospel which my holy prophets, yea, and also my disciples, desired in their prayers should come forth unto this people.
47. And I said unto them, that it should be granted unto them according to their faith in their prayers;
48. Yea, and this was their faith--that my gospel, which I gave unto them that they might preach in their days, might come unto their brethren the Lamanites, and also all that had become Lamanites because of their dissensions.
49. Now, this is not all--their faith in their prayers was that this gospel should be made known also, if it were possible that other nations should possess this land;
50. And thus they did leave a blessing upon this land in their prayers, that whosoever should believe in this gospel in this land might have eternal life;

The whole purpose of the Three Witnesses was to witness the truth of the Book, to be sure but also of the things written therein.

2 Nephi 27:12 ....three witnesses shall behold it, by the power of God, besides him to whom the book shall be delivered; and they shall testify to the truth of the book and the things therein.

You may believe that the Nephite prophets wrote things that they didn't understand. They were mistaken and ignorant you have boldly told me. They were ill informed. But Moroni has a message for you.

Moroni 10:27 And I exhort you to remember these things; for the time speedily cometh that ye shall know that I lie not, for ye shall see me at the bar of God; and the Lord God will say unto you: Did I not declare my words unto you, which were written by this man, like as one crying from the dead, yea, even as one speaking out of the dust?

God gave the prophets His words. They just jotted them down. I know, if you hold to Section 19, that God plays word games to deceive (frighten) His children, but that is an abomination and a blasphemy. He expects us to be plain, consistent and honest. I must assume that is because that is how He deals with us.

Matthew 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Think about it. Is there more than one God? Nay. To teach that later He would answer with a Yea, is teaching that God is not a Rock after all but is just a pile of shifting sand. “Nay” now you god says but later “I will change it to Yea”.

No wonder Jesus said "...I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight" (Luke 10:21). Even babes understand the word "No". It is one of the first words understood by babies. The "the wise and prudent" make "no" to mean the opposite! No wonder God "hid these things" from those wretches.

Despite the scholarship and selected scouring of Eugene Seaich, unamed scholars, assertions of "some" (whoever those unnamed opiners are), Jack N. Sparks, James E. Talmage, Justin Martyr, C.S. Lewis, Wikipedia, The Eastern Orthodox, Catholic Church, the Second Vatican Council and, as a group, the majority of Christians, no humble follwer of the Jesus of the scriptures can change "no" to "yes". They prove themselves "clouds without rain" who only cumber the ground. They are spots at the feast.

Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

To conclude, I cling to the plain and precious parts. This may be "due to [my] stubbornness and lack of knowledge" I grant you. I call any other gospel accursed. That other gospel may be pursued by itching ears, but I will believe God and rejoice beyond measure that He speaks to me in my language to my understanding. As a babe, I understand "no".

2 Timothy 4

3. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4. And they shall turn away their ears from the [simple] truth, and shall be turned unto fables [imagined up by the wise and prudent, modern and ancient].

.Wee are both closer to the end than we are to our birth. Perhaps now is the time for you to repent and believe the Gospel.

Mark 1:15

….The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

The Simple

SAYS YOU: "I believe you’re more a Protestant than you are a Latter-day Saint."

ME: You made me chuckle here.

I quoted the Bible and Book of Mormon and that not as much as I could have for brevity's sake. Simply and plainly the angel that instructed Amulek told him there was no other God.

That one angel trumps all the worldly wise-men and Living Oracles you rely on.

Not for Scholars

The Book wasn't written for people who had little better to do than to study the likes of Augustine, Athanasius, Stephen E. Robinson, Stephen E. Robinson, Cyril of Alexandria, Maximus the Confessor, Symeon, Hippolytus, Origen, Philip Barlow, Gregory of Nazianzus, Aquinas, Gilbert W. Scharffs, Eugene Seaich, unamed scholars, assertions of "some" (whoever those unnamed opiners are), Jack N. Sparks, James E. Talmage, Justin Martyr, C.S. Lewis, Wikipedia, The Eastern Orthodox, Catholic Church, the Second Vatican Council and, as a group, the majority of Christians.

In fact, as an act of mercy to us simple folks, the Merciful God gave us only two books we need to concern ourselves with, the Book of Mormon and the Bible. With those two Books, we would have all the knowledge we need. The Holy Ghost makes that so.

Additionally, He composed those two Books with words and structure that the simple folk would understand. He did not, nor would He, teach with words that don't mean what they plainly say to sow confusion among His target audience. And who is His target audience?

1 Corinthians 1

26. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
28. And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29. That no flesh should glory in his presence.

What would the men and women not as wise as you, not as mighty as your ancient and modern scholars are, the foolish things and weak things, the base, the despised and those who can't follow your multitudinous hyperlinks due to lack of technology, think on reading the following?

Alma 11

27. And Amulek said: Yea, there is a true and living God.
28. Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God?
29. And he answered, No.

Your who's who of the apostasy sees that NO and, since it doesn't conform to the notion they dreamed up, want to gather their mighty, noble and great minds to convince the Lord's lambs that NO really does not mean No, it means YES!! Even a brief exploration of the word NO took 2,836 words with additional hyperlinks to thoroughly cover the reversal of simple word meanings.

Worse, the first step in misleading the simple lambs is destroying any faith and trust in the two books the Lord expects us to use. You love to talk "about how much and was the historical record changed when the monotheistic regime came to power in Israel", thus promoting to the Lambs that what they read was altered for political reasons. What the lambs are told is that those scriptures, indeed the Old Testament, which they believe are given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works", are corrupt and untrustworthy, written by "dead prophets" and corrupted. At worse you teach as an article of faith that they are not translated correctly ("That's why they contradict us. Listen to us Living Oracles for the real scoop, you simpletons who think No means No!").

If you think telling me I am "more a Protestant than ….a Latter-day Saint" is an insult, your arrow has missed the target. I do not consider myself a LDSaint and "Protestant" is meaningless. Be that as it may, your Protestants at least love the "book of the Lamb of God" (1 Nephi 13:38), would be loath to disparage it and gather several times a week to enjoy it together. They may err because they are taught the precepts of men (kinda like you who used to be taught the black brothers were the seed of Cain and would never hold the priesthood), but they are humble followers of Christ (2 Nephi 28:14). And that is all that matters. Again, that is all that matters. According to your Revelations, they are the Lord's church.

Doctrine and Covenants 10

67. Behold, this is my doctrine--whosoever repenteth and cometh unto me, the same is my church.
68. Whosoever declareth more or less than this, the same is not of me, but is against me; therefore he is not of my church.
69. And now, behold, whosoever is of my church, and endureth of my church to the end, him will I establish upon my rock, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against them.
70. And now, remember the words of him who is the life and light of the world, your Redeemer, your Lord and your God. Amen.

Malachi 3

16. Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
17. And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

If you need to categorize me, put me in that group.

Have a safe trip. Thanks for taking time that must be sparse.
