Do Mormons suffer persecution or discrimination because of their beliefs?

Well, in the grand scheme of things, there are very few LDSaints even if we pretend that the official membership estimate is true. But even fewer are folks who care what the LDSaints believe.

Sure, there are a few who have capitalized on attacking and "exposing" peculiar doctrines, but one can count them on one's fingers. There will always be crazies and fanatics. But I will assure the LDSaints here, you have no idea what persecution is.

I read lists of examples of persecution in other answers. Persecution as the cause of these crimes were hastily assumed. Sister missionaries being murdered does not mean they were killed by angry Episcopalians over religious doctrine. Churches being burned and robbed may not have any religious motivation at all. Perhaps missionaries are harassed, not because they are LDS, but because they are perceived to be Christians. I know churches crave to be persecuted for they think it is a sign of the true church to be at that end of the stick.

But I will tell you why LDSaints are not being significantly persecuted. Let's open the New Testament and I will show you.

John 7:7 The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

How are LDSaints doing in the area of testifying of the world, that the works thereof are evil? Testify that of evil and see what persecution really is! Instead, your prophets go to a communist Pope and get a photo op. If they did their job, they would be escorted out by the Swiss Guard before the photographer could get his lens cap off. They go to the Marxist, pro-abortion, pro-riot NAACP and hand over at least $10,000,000.00! Now there is a costly selfie! If these prophets and apostles did their job they would be declared racist and they would be cancelled left and right! There would be signs, bullhorns, media coverage and social media cancelling efforts aplenty. There would be mobs and actual threats

John 7:7 according to Ray The world [simply doesn’t] hate you. Why should they? But me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil. Why would they hate you? You are insignificant. You are pathetic. Nobody hates a nobody.

I am looking at you, LDSaint reader. Dallin Oaks called you, yes YOU, to arms,

Follow this divine council and oppose social and legal efforts that distort marriage between a man and a woman, to oppose changes that homogenize the differences between men and women or confuse or alter gender and see what persecution really is! Publicly battle those distorting marriage, discouraging childbearing, or confusing gender and you will get the persecution that you only imagine you are getting now. Nobody, except for those too few to consider here, cares that you baptize for the dead. No one cares that you claim everyone is wrong but you. No one cares that you think there is a Mother in Heaven. Nobody cares. But speak up on the above-listed issues and they will care.

That prophet John, the Baptist, you know, the one that restored you priesthood (that one) marched right into the head of the government’s domain and did the rebuking that led to his death.

Matthew 14

3. For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
4. For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

What was the task of that Holy Order?

Your guys don't even rebuke members of your church except in the smoothest and least memorable manner.

Fine, John had the Aaronic priesthood. But what about your boasted Melchizedek Priesthood, which you believe is the Holy Order?

Alma 13:6 And thus being called by this holy calling, and ordained unto the high priesthood of the holy order of God, to teach his commandments unto the children of men, that they also might enter into his rest--

Alma 13:18 But Melchizedek having exercised mighty faith, and received the office of the high priesthood according to the holy order of God, did preach repentance unto his people.

Alma 5:49 And now I say unto you that this is the order after which I am called, yea, to preach unto my beloved brethren, yea, and every one that dwelleth in the land; yea, to preach unto all, both old and young, both bond and free; yea, I say unto you the aged, and also the middle aged, and the rising generation; yea, to cry unto them that they must repent and be born again.

Alma 7:22 And now my beloved brethren, I have said these things unto you that I might awaken you to a sense of your duty to God, that ye may walk blameless before him, that ye may walk after the holy order of God, after which ye have been received.

So, ye elders of your Holy Order, are you performing your duties to preach repentance to all the children of men? Are you teaching His commandments, repentance and faith on the Lord? Certainly this is not what your leaders are about. We can see that the work of true prophets is more than flying all over the world dedicating large and spacious buildings and giving a couple of conference talks a year. There is more to the Holy Order than managing a prosperous corporation. Calling the wicked to repentance is more than putting on an expensive light show in Times Square that nobody now remembers.

Put up a light-show calling New York to repentance and pointing out Oaks’ issues, cowards.

No. There is no good reason for anyone to persecute you. Nobody feels threatened by you. Any of you.

Helaman 13

26. ....if a prophet come among you and declareth unto you the word of the Lord, which testifieth of your sins and iniquities, ye are angry with him, and cast him out and seek all manner of ways to destroy him; yea, you will say that he is a false prophet, and that he is a sinner, and of the devil, because he testifieth that your deeds are evil.
27. But behold, if a man shall come among you and shall say: Do this, and there is no iniquity; do that and ye shall not suffer; yea, he will say: Walk after the pride of your own hearts; yea, walk after the pride of your eyes, and do whatsoever your heart desireth--and if a man shall come among you and say this, ye will receive him, and say that he is a prophet.
28. Yea, ye will lift him up, and ye will give unto him of your substance; ye will give unto him of your gold, and of your silver, and ye will clothe him with costly apparel; and because he speaketh flattering words unto you, and he saith that all is well, then ye will not find fault with him.
29. O ye wicked and ye perverse generation; ye hardened and ye stiffnecked people, how long will ye suppose that the Lord will suffer you? Yea, how long will ye suffer yourselves to be led by foolish and blind guides? Yea, how long will ye choose darkness rather than light?

Well, that is the effect that the TRUE HOLY ORDER receives.
